ADHD Screening & Symptom Assessment
Is It ADHD? Start with a Professional Screening Assessment
FIND CLARITY AND CONFIDENCE IN UNDERSTANDING YOUR SYMPTOMS
At Insight Counseling and Wellness, we offer ADHD-focused screening assessments for children, teens, and adults who may be struggling with attention, focus, organization, impulsivity, emotional regulation, motivation, or executive functioning concerns.
Our screening process is designed to help determine if clients meet criteria for ADHD and to better understand how symptoms may be showing up in daily life, relationships, school, work, and emotional wellbeing.
THE ADHD SCREENING PROCESS INCLUDES:
- A clinical interview and ADHD-focused assessment appointment (up to 90 minutes)
- Completion of screening tools and symptom questionnaires
- Review of emotional, behavioral, academic, occupational, and executive functioning concerns
- Exploration of overlapping concerns such as anxiety, depression, stress, or trauma
- Clinical observations and discussion of symptom patterns
After the ADHD Assessment Clients will leave with:
- A clearer understanding of how ADHD symptoms may present specifically for you
- Diagnostic impressions and clinical recommendations
- Recommendations for therapy, coping strategies, school/work accommodations, or referral options when appropriate
- Guidance on next steps for treatment and support
ADHD Assessments: Common Questions
IS THIS THE SAME AS PSYCHOLOGICAL TESTING OR NEUROPSYCHOLOGICAL TESTING?
WHAT SCREENING TOOLS ARE USED DURING THE ADHD ASSESSMENT?
Depending on age and presenting concerns, screening tools may include:
- Adult ADHD Self-Report Scale (ASRS)
- Wender Utah Rating Scale (WURS)
- Weiss Functional Impairment Rating Scale (WFIRS)
- WFIRS-S
- SNAP-IV
- Vanderbilt Assessment Scales
- SCARED
- PHQ-9
- GAD-7
These tools help provide additional insight into attention, executive functioning, anxiety, mood, and emotional regulation concerns.
CAN THIS ASSESSMENT BE USED FOR SCHOOL OR WORKPLACE ACCOMMODATIONS?
Sometimes. Many schools, colleges, universities, and employers may accept documentation from an ADHD assessment when considering accommodations. However, requirements can vary by institution and situation.
Before scheduling an assessment, we encourage you to check with your school, workplace, testing agency, or accommodation office to understand their specific documentation requirements. Some organizations may require additional information or a comprehensive neuropsychological evaluation to determine eligibility for accommodations.
